Every year, as autumn starts to tickle at the heels of summer, the FADS Panto Machine swings into action, and we're kicking off with auditions for 'Aladdin' on Tuesday 5th September at 7.30pm in the Menzies Hall, Fintry.
This audition is for principal characters and the chorus - that's teens and adults.
Primary School-aged children will be selected at a later date.
Written by Gavin Paterson (who has many hilarious Dame roles to his credit), Aladdin features a colourful cast of characters, including Aladdin's mum, Widow Twankey, and his daft brother, Wishee Washee; King Prawn and Queen Sweet and Sour; the incompetent pairing of PCs Me and Yew; our baddie, Abanazar; the Fairy of the Ring – and, of course, one rather troublesome Genie… Info on each of the characters can be accessed here.
Seasoned panto pro David Smith is once again at the helm, with choreographers Heather and Kirsty Stewart by his side.
We're also inviting anyone who'd like to help with any other aspect of what is a HUGE production to come along on the 5th. The wide range of roles to fill includes set work, costumes, make-up, props, lighting, sound, stage crew and front of house. No experience required, so if you'd like to learn a new technical or creative skill, or play some other part in the amazing production team, pop along on the evening to find out more.
The 8 performances will be:
Thurs 30th Nov to Sat 2nd Dec & Thurs 7th to Sat 9th Dec
Curtain up every evening at 7.30pm, plus a matinee each Saturday, starting at 2pm
If you have any questions, just email David Smith on panto@fintrydrama.org.uk
The Panto Panel look forward to seeing you on the 5th!
