AGM 2024
Thursday 16th May
7.30pm, Menzies Hall
A message from our Chair:
Appeal to members, families of youth members, and FADS supporters:
If you love and support what we do at FADS, I'm asking you to show that support by attending our AGM next Thursday 16th May @7:30pm in the Menzies Hall.
Our club is in a vulnerable position. Financially, we've recovered from the pandemic and are sustainable. We've welcomed many new members, especially young people. We have fantastic support from our community who keep coming back, buying tickets to our shows.
But without a committee to run it, FADS cannot continue.
At next week's AGM, I will be standing down as Chair after serving a 2-year term. Our Co-Treasurers and almost all Ordinary committee members are also due to stand down.
We have had some interest in Ordinary membership and one nominee for Treasurer.
There is currently nobody willing to take the position of Chair. Without a Chair to lead the committee, FADS can't continue to operate. That's unthinkable.
How can you help?
If you're a supporter, become a club member. We want members of all ages, for acting and non acting roles.
If you're a parent of a youth member who loves FADS, we need you and we want to hear your voice. Join us and consider joining the committee.
If you're a former or existing member, consider nominating for the committee, and especially the role of Chair. Find a jobshare partner if that makes it easier. You'll be well supported in the role.
The committee currently meets every 6-8 weeks, and many of these are online.
If we have no nominees for Chair at the AGM next week, we're faced with the unthinkable: dissolving the club.
Please contact me at chairman@fintrydrama.org.uk to discuss any of the above. I hope to see you on the 16th. Anna.
'Our Town': Casting calls!
Following a successful meeting and reading of the play at the start of this month, we are moving on to the audition phase.
There will be two workshop/audition sessions, on Thursday 23rd May and Monday 27th May, 7.30pm to 9.30pm in the Menzies Hall, Fintry.
There will be several parts for young people in the production and these sessions are open to everyone, so please come along to register your interest and participate in two fun nights of theatrical workshops!
We're hoping to go ahead with this production in Spring 2025 over a two-week period at the end of March/early April - firstly in Fintry, followed by a few alternative local venues.
You can find a synopsis on Wikipedia and the full 1940 version of the film on YouTube. Please take a look ahead of the workshops so you get a flavour of what’s in store.
We look forward to seeing lots of you there!
